NORFOLK’S PRETTY CACTUS PLANTS, AN INDEPENDENT HOUSEPLANT RETAILER HAS BEEN SHORTLISTED FOR SMALL AWARD

Pretty Cactus Plants has been selected as a finalist for UK’s top Bricks and Clicks 2022 business, following a record number of applicants

4th APRIL 2022: Pretty Cactus Plants based in Brooke, Norfolk has been shortlisted for the Bricks and Clicks 2022 Award at this year’s  Small Awards.

Now in its sixth year, The Small Awards is a nationwide search for the smallest and greatest firms in the UK, across all sectors. It is organised annually by Small Business Britain, which champions, inspires and accelerates the nation’s 6 million small firms.

Pretty Cactus Plants, which first opened in February 2019 was founded by Donna Hodds and offers a range of houseplants, from cacti and succulents to larger houseplants as well as pots and small gift items too. Following a record-breaking number of applications, it has been chosen as one of eight finalists for the Bricks and Clicks Award 2022 that recognises small businesses that use multiple channels with innovation and skill to develop their business.

With eleven unique categories, the Small Awards celebrate the dynamism and resilience of the UK’s small business sector, across everything from mission-led start-ups, to longstanding family firms, to the nation’s leading sole traders.

“The Small Awards is an opportunity to applaud all the inspiring, positive things that these fabulous, finalist entrepreneurs have achieved over the last year, particularly as we start to move forwards once again,” said Michelle Ovens CBE, Founder of Small Business Britain.

“The phenomenal number of applications, and their incredibly high standard, has been fantastic to see. Mrs Hodds should be extremely proud of being shortlisted for this award. The Small Awards is all about championing and spotlighting the nation’s small firms, and we’re so excited to finally be able to celebrate with them again in person this year.”

“I’ve been a follower and participant of Small Business Saturday, part of the Small Britain group, so a number of years now. To be even be nominated is amazing, but to be shortlisted is great news.” Said Donna Hodds, Owner of Pretty Cactus Plants.

“It is such a lovely feeling to know that my small business has been recognised during what is a tricky time for everyone. There has been a lot of hard work and effort put into keeping the business relevant and making sure customers come back time and time again. It really is an honour to have been shortlisted for the Small Business Awards.”

Judged by a panel of enterprise experts, the winners of all categories, along with the overall winner of Small Business of the Year, will be announced on 19 May 2022.

After being held online for two years due to the pandemic, the awards ceremony will return in person this year to take place at St John’s Church in London. Plans are underway for a fun-filled night of celebrations, with small business owners and industry leaders coming together for an evening of inspiring speeches, entertainment, dinner and more!

About Pretty Cactus Plants

Pretty Cactus Plants owner Donna, is a lifelong plant lover - who used to spend her time rescuing dying plants from local shops and garden centres, and taking them home to nurse them back to health.

After realising plants were her passion, Donna started selling the homegrown plants at country fayres and craft markets, before giving up her corporate job to run Pretty Cactus full-time as a successful shop and online store in 2019.

Now, Donna works with a wide team of growers and distributors within the UK and Holland to source their greenery - securing only the most unusual cacti, succulents, and houseplants wherever possible. The Pretty Cactus has since become an inspirational hub and one-stop-shop for all plant lovers near and afar, both in-store or virtually, who are searching for a wide range of plants and succulents.
