Monstera deliciosa , also know as a Swiss Cheese Plant, originates from Southern Mexico but have been introduced to many tropical countries, as well as pretty much every household in the UK!
They're an evergreen climbing plant that has aerial roots. When you're little cheese plant gets bigger it's a good idea to invest in a moss pole to help it climb. Make sure your little cheesey guy gets lots of sunlight and a regular watering to help it grow. Looked after correctly it will grow quickly, producing new leaves on a regular basis.
These lovely leafy plants grow in the tropical rain forest. But, did you know - the plant has developed holes in its leaves to withstand heavy rainfall and wind as they let the elements pass through the holes.
Water when the top layer of soil feels dry.
Place your Monstera where it can receive medium to bright indirect light. While it is tolerant of lower light conditions, you may notice leggy growth as a result.
Look after your monstera for 10+ years and you could have a monster monstera as it can reach up to 8 meters in growth.
This is toxic to pets if eaten.
