This rare cactus is a Myrtillocactus geometrizans cv. fukurokuryuzinboku is a hybrid plant that has been cultivated in Japan.


It is also known as the Boobie Cactus or Titty Cactus, the areoles* on this plant resemble breasts.

It is childish - but I do chuckle and the fact that this plant is boobie shaped makes me want it even more!

Myrtillocactus geometrizans cv. fukurokuryuzinboku is a rare and much sought after cactus by collectors. It is a slow-growing cactus and it does not bloom before getting 60 cm in height. 

Generally a blue-green in colour, you may find your Boobie Cactus Houseplant has some yellow and orange too. The colour of this cactus will vary with the light conditions. Pop it in bright sunlight there will even be some flashes of red too. 

PLANT FACT: Myrtillocactus means “blueberry cactus”, its name is due to the fruit of this cactus that is a tiny sweet edible fruit that looks like blueberries.

As with most cactus house plants, this plant will like a nice sunny spot in your home.


Only water when the soil becomes dry and only a small amount of water at a time. The most common killer of cactus houseplants is overwatering. Do no water between October and March as your plant will be in a dormant state.

*In botany, areoles are small light- to dark-coloured bumps on cacti out of which grow clusters of spines. Areoles are important diagnostic features of cacti and identify them as a family distinct from other succulent plants.
