I do love an air purifying plant!
And this Aglaonema has been tried and tested by NASA in their 1989 air purifying study. It was found to remove a whole host of airborne toxins found in everyday homes.
Also known as a Chinese Evergreen this houseplant is a real tough cookie and a great plant for beginners. It will tolerate any indoor living condition, but loves living in low light.
Plus - it's a rather attractive houseplant with lots of lovely leafy foliage and interesting patterns. This Aglaonema spotted star has green leaves with spots of pink.
Looking after your Chinese Evergreen is easy...
Keep it away from draughts and water sparingly in winter.
Maintain temperatures above 16°C and mist the leaves regularly to increase humidity.
Repot (preferably into a shallow pot) every 3 years or so in spring.
Pet owners - this guy is poisonous to your four legged friends. So make sure you pop it out of reach. It's also has nasty side effect to humans too - so make sure you don't eat this plant. You know, just in case you were tempted to have a chomp in its leaves.
