This Dracaena Surculosa is so pretty and unusual. It has dark green leaves with creamy yellow markings that look like spots, hence the name - Spotted Dragon Tree.
Surculosa are slow growing, which is great for those of you who want a low maintenance plant.
You would be forgiving for thinking this plant was a bamboo or palm rather than a dracaena as it doesn't take the 'tree' form as many dracaena do.
In 1973, NASA found that the Dracaena compacta, also called the Janet Craig compacta, was beneficial in removing hazardous substances such as benzene, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene from the air. Its air cleaning abilities, compact size and robustness makes the Dracaena compacta a decent houseplant choice. Water only when the soil has completely dried. Try not to use tap water if possible as the fluoride and chloride in tap water can cause browning on the leaves. These leafy plants thrive when kept in low light and low humidity areas. The plant grows very slowly. Indoors it can reach a height of about 1 to 2 m (3 to 6 ft).
Dracaena is toxic to both cats and dogs. Delivered in a 12cm plastic pot.
