This Tea Plant also goes by the name of Camellia Sinensis.
It's an evergreen bushy shrub has small, shiny, deep-green leaves, which are slightly serrated around the edges. Its white, blousy blooms appear in the autumn and look similar to peonies, but last a bit longer! Hailing from China, Camellia Sinensis thrives in countries around the world, providing it has rich soil and the temperature remains even.
That's right, your favourite cuppa comes from this plant – you can use the young leaves to make a brew (if you know what you're doing!).
Like most plants, the lush green leaves of the Camellia Sinensis absorb carbon dioxide, which is great for the environment, but there's limited research into whether it has any other air purifying properties.
Keep the soil moist. Camellia Sinensis doesn't like to be completely dry or soaked. Overwatering can cause the roots to rot.
Place in partial shade.
Slow-growing, so you won't need to prune or repot anytime soon.
East-facing is ideal, providing early morning light. Living spaces and offices are ideal, where there aren't dramatic changes in temperature.
Not pet safe.
Delivered in a 10cm nursery pot.
