These plants are called Air Plants. Their true name are Tillandsia. The reason why they are nicknamed "Air Plants" is because they get the majority of their nutrients from the air around them. Which means they don't need soil.
Tillandsia 'Curly Slim' is a hybrid air plant that has curly leaves. The thick, curly leaves tend to curl back on themselves into spirals, giving the plant a comical, curly-whirly appearance. When the leaves are super curly it needs a drink, when they are straighter it is hydrated.
Caring for these guys is easy.
Mist them once every two weeks, preferably with rain or pond water. The muddier the water the better.
Shake off any excess water and put them in a bright spot for at least 4 hours. This is key, as dampness is the main foe of an air plant. Their poor little cores will rot if they don’t get to drain and dry out!
These little guys are perfect to pop in a small hanger or place on a holder.
Approx 25cm long.
